Monitor, Measure, Align

Business Service Management (BSM) methodologies and software packages are increasingly popular today because they are designed to monitor, measure and align IT services very precisely against these metrics. A recent survey* found that 71 percent of IT leaders say their organizations place a high or critical priority on managing IT resources based on overall business priorities, but only 38 percent believe they are effective at making this happen.

And while all respondents are eager to reap the benefits of BSM, roughly half indicated that they are not ready to implement it, citing technology integration and IT-business alignment as serous obstacles.
